Therapy that works for children
We provide a warm, safe and welcoming space where children can feel comfortable being themselves, make sense of what they’re experiencing and develop new skills to help them manage life’s challenges.
Therapy with children looks different from therapy with adults. Sessions are tailored to each child’s age, developmental stage, personality and interests, and might involve games, play, art, movement, conversation or practical activities. We focus on making therapy engaging and meaningful, rather than expecting children to simply sit and talk.
Working with the whole family
Parents and caregivers play an important role in supporting children. We work closely with parents alongside individual sessions with the child, providing practical guidance and strategies to help support positive change at home.
Where helpful and with appropriate consent, we can also collaborate with schools, doctors and other professionals involved in a child’s care. This helps ensure the people around a child are working together to provide consistent and connected support.

How we work
At Umbrella Psychology we prioritize ensuring that every young person feels comfortable.
We know that trust is important, and we commit to being honest and transparent with all young people.
We respect young people’s choices regarding parental involvement in therapy. Together with the young person, we’ll work out the approach that suits them best.
We recognise that things work best in families when there is good communication, and we actively encourage communication with parents about how they can best support their young person.
We collaborate with schools or other professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
